From the very beginning, one conviction stood firm.

Robert Linxe believed that chocolate deserved a place among the most refined pleasures. It had to be elevated, revealed, and exalted. He would turn chocolate into an art form, a luxury, a connoisseur’s delight.

In 1977, Robert Linxe opened La Maison du Chocolat at 225, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, establishing a signature that was as radical as it was elegant: dark chocolate, pure and unadorned, where every ingredient found its perfect note. A stylistic exercise flirting with haute couture, bridging worlds: a case inspired by the finest saddler’s boxes, ganaches that whisper operatic melodies, craftsmanship bordering on goldsmithing.

The Ganache Sorcerer.

He was soon nicknamed “the ganache sorcerer.” And rightly so—there was something magical in the way he crafted his recipes. Each bite was a revelation, an initiatory journey where chocolate could finally be tasted for what it truly is. A relentless pursuit of what is good, infused with that extra soulfulness only visionaries can bring.

Nothing compares to La Maison du Chocolat. At this now-iconic address, Robert Linxe welcomed his clients like initiates, sharing the stories behind his creations and passing on his commandments of chocolate. A transmission, a legacy, a legitimacy: that of a man who elevated chocolate to nobility—and offered those who love it a new way to savor it.

Nicolas Cloiseau.

Today, his spirit guides every creation of the Maison. A living legacy, carried on by 35 artisan chocolatiers, all trained in excellence by Nicolas Cloiseau, Master Chef and Meilleur Ouvrier de France. Each artisan preserves the art of chocolate as a unique craft, shaping it with precision. Their hands, trained in the authenticity of the recipe, embody the founder’s philosophy: pure chocolate, uncompromising, where every ingredient is selected with rigor and respect in an endless pursuit of perfection and passion.

« I was deeply drawn to couture, my uncle was a tailor, and I had an eye for it. We were fortunate to meet extraordinary people: the Chanels, the Diors, the Balmains. I would study the colors of the dresses. I only loved truly beautiful things. It wasn’t out of envy, just for the delicacy. You mustn’t look at average houses. You must always aim very high.» Robert Linxe
