In 1735 Botanist Carl Von Linne baptised the divine cocoa tree “Theobroma”, literally “food of the Gods” in Greek. In fact, the chocolate has many virtues for our health… |
From a nutritional standpoint, chocolate is in fact a very balanced food, as it contains every single macro-nutrient (proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and fibres) and many micro-nutrients such as vitamins, mineral salts and trace elements which our bodies needs.
Chocolate is well known for its anti-depressant qualities, because it contains and triggers serotonin, and because of the soothing quality of a substance similar to a euphoriant amphetamine called phenyl ethylamine.
Contrary to common beliefs, the pourcentage of cocoa is not a criterion for quality; the quality comes from the origin of the selected beans.
If taken in moderate quantities, good quality chocolate is therefore an excellent ally for your physical and mental health! |
